Sometimes as an outdoors writer you have to walk the walk -- even if it means willfully walking into an ice cold lake in late January.
After being asked Friday by my friend Tom Seeley, a Skaneateles attorney, I agreed to participate in the Skaneateles Polar Bear Plunge in Skaneateles Lake. The plunge took place shortly after noon Saturday.
Tom's team had a theme -- "The Living Dead." My role was to play the part of a zombie. I wore a blue-colored flowered shirt and shorts, and put an old turkey hunting mask over my face. I then walked into the water near the pier at Clift Park with the rest of Tom's team.
My wife, Laura, filmed the above video from the pier.
