The new installment of my One Angler's Voyage blog, entitled, "The Elephant in the Cockpit," deals with a subject that some folks try to ignore--the fact that, although one angler might not kill many fish, there are a lot of us out there. If you took all of the fish that all of us kill over the course of the season and put it in one place, it would make a pretty big pile.
The inspiration of this installment was a guest op-ed from a Florida paper, which railed against current regulations limiting recreational landings and urged changes in current law. Quite honestly, I view such comments as irresponsible, and in contrast gave a shout out to the good folks behind the 1@32 Pledge and to Coastal Conservation Association Maryland for its, "My Limit Is One," initiative. Both are great examples of responsible anglers, acting in the time-honored tradition of sportsmen, America's first conservationists. I hope that you take a look.
