May 12-15, West Fort Ann, NY
Dan Ladd/Ed Noonan - Chairmen
The 2016 NYSOWA Spring Safari will be all about getting back to the basics of fish and turkey camp at Hadlock Pond in West Fort Ann, in the Southeastern Adirondacks.
Accommodations will for the most part be in various forms of recreational vehicles (RVs). In fact, camping is going to be one of the main themes of this conference.
Our host is the Lake Hadlock Inn and Campground on Hadlock Pond, a small 1-mile long private lake in Northern Washington County. Hadlock offers excellent fishing for bass (both largemouth and smallmouth), northern pike, perch and black crappie as well. Members are welcome to bring along a boat of their own including small trailered boats, canoes, kayaks and rowboats. There will also be a number of such vessels available as well.
Further fishing possibilities are available on the Halfway Brook for rainbow trout and native brook trout. The classic Mettawee River is also a possibility as are a few local bass ponds and trout streams. There will also be plenty of turkey hunting opportunities.
