Angela Colangelo

I’m Angela Colangelo, find me on instagram @spells_well. I’m a writer with a novel on the way—aren’t we all?

My day job is as digital editor of a media company on the north fork of Long Island. It’s local news, so I write mostly about nature, sky watches, the environment and any time a rare bird blows into town. I leave the town board meetings to the reporters. In that company, I also have the chance to write feature magazine articles. The magazines are not really my brand, lots of pricey real estate and fancy restaurants, but we’ve all found that I bring something different to them; give them a bit of an edge. I’m two for two for cover stories.

My previous publishing experience was at the Fisherman magazine. I spent lots of time with a surf rod in hand at ungodly hours of the day and night catching stripers and read thousands of words on the topic from New England to Maryland. These days I’d consider myself fishing book smart as I’ve hung up the waders and take a more observant approach to nature, mainly birding, somehow still in all sorts of uncomfortable weather. 

I have a kid and two former lab beagles who keep me busy outside of work. Also have a budding production company I’ve yet to make official, so be on the lookout for it, and am open to expanding who I write/produce for.

I’m excited to see what I can learn from and bring to the group.
