NYSOWA is currently accepting nominations for two of its most prominent awards for 2026.

M. Paul Keesler Award
The 2026 NYSOWA M. Paul Keesler New York Outdoor Citizen Award will be presented to an individual or organization that has effectively raised the public’s awareness of outdoor recreational opportunities and conservation issues in New York State.  The award recipient will be officially announced at the annual conference of the New York State Outdoor Writers Association (NYSOWA) in Greene and Columbia counties May 7-10, 2026. George Franke was honored in 2025.

Pass It On: NYSOWA’s Pass It On Award honors an Active Members of NYSOWA. Triter or media person is honored with a plaque at the Annual Conference for doing much to “pass on” our outdoor heritage. The 2025 winner was Jerrod Vila.
